Why is it that my child can fly to Europe and back and return perfectly healthy, but every time he takes a short flight somewhere relatively close, like Texas or Virginia, he returns with a runny nose?

Ah, the Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack. Diaper bag to the stars! So stylish! So chic! So very, very impractical.

Seriously. Silk brocade? On a diaper bag? Where clothes covered in poop go, and bottles and burp rags and drool-coated teething toys and heaven knows what else?

That said, I love my PPB Dynamite Roll diaper bag. In addition to being just bee-you-ti-ful, it is also a well-designed bag, with a handy changing pad, big bottle pockets, and great interior organization. You can carry it over your shoulder or on your back. Me, I’m a backpack kind of gal, as I am not fond of whumping my child in the head with my stuffed diaper bag when I reach to get him in and out of his carseat. The PPB also has handy-dandy D-rings in places that make it convenient to clip it to my stroller when we’re out and about. Really, it’s a great bag. I’d recommend it to anyone.

However, we still have the issue of keeping that stunning silk brocade looking good…

Things I Have Learned

Eventually, every baby reaches a point where he loses the reflex to poop every time he eats.  When this happens, the baby can go for several days without a poop until his brain finally figures out that his distended colon is telling him that he needs to push the poop out all by himself.

And when your child does finally poop for the first time since Sunday (it's Wednesday, mind you), there is no diaper on this earth that can contain three days worth of poop.

BELIEVE ME.

Things I Have Learned

When your breastfed baby doesn't poop for 34 hours, rest assured that when he finally does, he will need a bath, and that you should also have the Oxy-Clean handy.

(Not for his bath, although that's not a bad idea, but for his clothes.)

It is possible to use the restroom while wearing the Baby Bjorn.  I'm sure you can only imagine how this simplifies my life.
